Christmas Eve dodgeball

If you are staying in town for Christmas we would love to invite you to play dodgeball with us on Christmas Eve. It's our family tradition and a great way to exhaust our tkids. We have squishy balls for the kids and dodgeballs for the grown ups. There's nothing that brings the Christmas Spirit like talking smack to your neighbor! Give me a call if you want to come play so we can give you the details.

Entertainment center

One more thing...
We have an entertainment center that we are trying to get rid of. At this point we will give it for free if you are interested. It is still in relatively good condition, the only flaws are the glass door was broken off and the backing where the TV goes was pushed up. It is very sturdy and not wobbly at all. We just dont need it any more and are trying to make room for baby. Let me know if you are interested or know of someone who would be. We dont have a truck so you would need to find a way of transporting it.
Thanks

I am in need of a substitute for my primary class on Dec 19th, 26th, and Jan 2nd. I am not sure who all is still going to be in town for the holidays. If you are able to substitute any of those days for me, it would be most appreciated!

Twin Mattress set??

I know this is a completely random question, but I was wondering if anyone has a spare twin mattress set? I'm going to be sleeping in the babies room for the first little while after he's born, and we have a queen mattress set but it takes up so much space!! I don't have a need to buy a twin set right now (although I'm trying to talk Brian into it), so I thought I would see if anyone had one I could borrow. You could even use our queen set in the mean time.

Thanks!

Gym/Preschool

Hey, would anyone be interested in doing a gym/preschool swap with me in the mornings? I was thinking that if we got a group together that we could have a couple moms stay with the kids and do preschool activities and the rest of the moms could go to the gym for 30-45. And then we could alternate days for who goes to the gym and who stays and does preschool with the kids. I figured that if we had more than one mom do the preschool, the other person(s) that is there could help entertain/watch the younger kids who are too little for preschool activities. That way if you have kids/babies that are younger than preschool age, you could still be in the group with us. I was hoping that we could do Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00. Let me know if you would be interested!

Heather Henrie
jhlhenrie@yahoo.com

*Also, if you already have your child(ren) in preschool you can still join us. I am not intending for the preschool to be hardcore normal preschool. I just thought it would be good to have some structured educational activities to help maintain their focus so that they aren't just running around going crazy! :)

Toy Train Museum

I thought I'd post this for anyone who may be interested. There is a toy train museum up in NW Tucson. It's usually open only on Sundays, but it's open 2 or 3 Saturdays every December. We take our boys every year and they love it. It's also free. If you have boys, they'd probably love it. Click here for the website for the address and times they're open.

Christmas Shopping

Would anyone be interested in doing a babysitting/Santa Shopping exchange?  I would love to go and do our kids Christmas shopping with Patrick this year, but obviously we can't take the kids. ;)  I would LOVE to trade with someone and babysit for them so they could do their shopping too!  If it's something you might be interested in doing, let me know!

Free toy workbench

I've been cleaning out my kids toys getting ready for Christmas and de-junking lately. I have a solid wood toy workbench that needs a new home. I'd like to give this to someone who could use it instead of just getting rid of it. The play tools that came with it are lost, except for the hammer. The hammer head needs a bit of wood glue to reattach it to the shaft. Lots of nuts and bolts and nails and boards for "nailing" together. If I find any other tools for it, I'll pass them on too. Let me know if you want it: adtingenjones@yahoo.com or 664-2441.

Thanks!

Holiday Card Set and Class

Emily Anderson and I have teamed up to help you make some adorable holiday cards this year!

When: Friday, December 3rd at 6:30pm
Where: Mindy Burns' home 287 W. Calle Patio Lindo (Emily's as a back-up)
Price: about $20 (we are still finalizing- may be a little more or a little less)

There will be 9 full size cards with envelopes and 2 mini gift cards with envelopes. Everything will be cut out and all you have to do is come and put them together, eat, socialize, and have fun!

If you cannot come that night, but would still like to buy the sets, that is an option as well.

While we don't need a commitment from you yet, we would like to get a general number of who's interested in these cards, so that we don't over-purchase material. Please reply and let us know how interested you are. mindyburns@gmail.com or emdorphin@gmail.com

This event is open to everyone, so feel free to forward it to your friends in the area.

CityDeals

I got a deal on Walmart and Harkins gift cards and thought I would share. Go to the link below and it will take you to the homepage of Citydeals. Just type in AZ for your location (you can leave the category and distance as the default). Then the first gift card offer that should come up is for Walmart. It's a $25 gift card that you will only pay $20 for. I figured with the holidays coming everyone will end up at Walmart for one thing or another and why not save $5? A little down the page there is a deal for Harkins. You can purchase 2 movie tickets for $9.50, which makes each ticket only $4.25. Also, when you're on the checkout page there is a box you can enter in a promotional code. Use the code: wallflowers and you will be able to get the gift card(s) sent to you with free shipping. Hope you're able to get one!

Handmade Ornament Exchange

Last year I had an ornament exchange at my house and decided that it was something that I wanted to continue to do every year. This year I am making the stipulation that the ornaments must be handmade. If you want to participate please RSVP here by October 30th. The actual exchange will happen at my house on December 4th at 7pm. Once you receive confirmation of the number of participants you will have just over a month to make your ornaments. Last year I had 17 participants including me, so everyone made 16 ornaments. I will try to post pictures of last years ornaments soon.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

another halloween post

Ladies,

With Halloween on Sunday this year, a few of us in our neighborhoods want to celebrate Halloween on Saturday. Maybe that's just the obvious thing for everybody, but I didn't want to assume.
We have tried to pass the word to other streets and neighborhoods and feel like there will be a decent turn out for other homes to trick-or-treat at on Sat.
Infact Sister Creer is making up a few flyers, Sister Allen is sending an email to our neighborhood watch contact to help spread the word.
If you are doing the same in your neighborhood, please let me know. I was hoping to make up a map for all of you that want to know where you could take your kids to knock doors.

Also, anyone that lives up at the Ranch's that wants to bring your kids down this way....I say DO IT!
Maybe donate a bag of candy to some one's home, knock that door a few times and then all the others in the hood.

Let me know

Thanks,

FREE NETFLIX

1 Month FREE Trial of Netflix.  We use it and love it.  And I get little cards to hand out for free trials all the time.  I have 4. So if you are interested, go to www.netflix.com/tellafriend and enter one of the following priority codes:

M691913967335
M661953967375

No Soliciting Sign

I've had a number of people tell me recently that they would like to get a "No Soliciting" sign for their front door. I have one that I made on my front door like this:

It's 1 1/2 inches tall and 8 inches long and very effective in getting no salespeople knocking on my door. If you would like one, I would be willing to cut one out of vinyl for you for $1. Just let me know what color you would like it to be. I have black, chocolate brown, dark gray, light gray, beige and white.

Baptism Dresses

Hi Ladies,

I know sometimes it's hard to find baptism dresses around here that don't have crosses on it or other things. Well I just saw that Sears is having a sale and some communion/baptism dresses (very non-Catholic looking) and are $20 or less. The regular prices range from $110-$75 so I thought I would pass this along. I obviously have no need for this, but thought others might. Also, there are only a few that have sleeves, but there are some cover ups on sale for $5.99

Go to the Sears site (www.sears.com) and type in Muneca Baptism, it will come up with what they have available. Also, when you add the item into the cart it will take an addition percentage off (I don't know what it is). This offer is good until Monday, 9/13.

Time Out For Women

I have talked to many of you already about the upcoming Time Out For Women in Phoenix. If you haven't heard of TOFW, please visit http://deseretbook.com/misc/email/tofw/tofw_gyg_arizona_revised.html and http://deseretbook.com/timeout/event/103 to learn more about it. I am so excited to have a weekend of fun, service, and spiritual rejuvenation!
If we register as a group, we save $10 off of the regular registration rate, so I am trying to get a list of who wants to go so we can get our tickets ordered soon. The pre-registration deadline is September 16, so check your schedules and let me know soon who is in! I'd like to put in a ticket order before that, just to make sure they don't sell out. If you can let me know by September 3, I will put in an order then. If you are a maybe, we can put in another order after that when you make up your mind...just no guarantees on the group rate.
I am planning on getting a couple of hotel rooms for Friday night. Who is interested in staying together and splitting the cost of a room?
Have you talked to someone who would love to go to the event, but can’t afford the full-price? As a team member, I have the opportunity to offer a few women scholarship tickets. Please send anyone you know that is in this situation to me and I will help to get them registered. We don’t want ANYONE to miss this!”

Temple Babysitting

I wasn't able to make it to the service auction but I do have a service I'd like to get the word out about. If any of you would like to make a trip to the temple, but don't have a babysitter up in the Mesa area to leave your kids with, please give me a call. I am seriously happy to watch any number of kids for a day, as long as I am available to do so, so you can make a trip to the temple, no strings attached.

I know it's a long time to leave your kids with someone else. If you aren't comfortable with that, we'd also be happy to arrange going up to the temple as a group with two or more families and doing some sort of a swap there as well.

I know I shouldn't complain about the distance we are from the temple because so many people have a lot further to go but there have been many times I wanted to go. However, the time it takes and having young / nursing children has made me feel like going to the temple can only be a rare occasion. I'd like to change that for myself and anyone else out there who is feeling a little temple-deprived due to babysitting issues. Please don't hesitate to call!'

Selling Pavers and Buying a Hutch

We have about 300 brick patio pavers we bought from someone for $0.25 / brick ($75 for the entire pallet). We were planning on finding matching ones to in order to do our whole patio. However, when we went shopping, we found another variety we really liked and bought those instead. That was a long time ago and now we have 300 pavers we don't need that have been sitting in our garage forever. If anyone is interested in buying them from us, they are yours for the price we bought them, which is about half what you'd pay in the store. I don't think they'd be hard to match if you need to buy more, we just didn't look very hard. Please call or email me if you're interested:

Play group- Play dates

I was wondering if anyone was interested in getting our kids together for a play date once a week. I thought it might be nice to let the kids that aren't in school yet get together each week and play and the mom's could get some errands done or even have a little quiet time. We could rotate each week who hosts and that way one person isn't having the kids over at their house every time. I would love to find one for Logan specifically since Noah will be going to preschool on M/W but I wouldn't mind having another for Noah's age group as well on a day he doesn't have school.

If anyone is interested let me know. Logan is 19 months, but really anything close to that age is good. I could do it any day of the week for him. Noah is 3 (still in nursery) and Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday would work best for him.

Free Babysitting

I know there are a lot of school moms in our ward who have kids at home all day too. If you are wanting to go in and volunteer in your kids classes I am more than willing to watch your little ones so that you can! (And Harrison would love to have kids to play with!) Patrick has had weekdays off lately, so I can plan on doing it when he will be home to "babysit". ;) This is one of those times when his random and weird schedule actually pays off! But I have received a lot of help from so many of you at church or other times when I haven't had a husband to help me! I really want to pay it forward! I am pretty open all month and I am SERIOUS! I will even provide snacks and lunch if I need to! :) Let me know!

There will be a begginning cha-cha lesson from 7-7:30 and open dancing from 7:30-9:30.
I'm also doing a lot of classes, kids camps, and dress up tea parties this summer if anyone is interested. You can go to my website at http://www.bravoballroomdance.com/ for more details.

Thanks,
Melissa parry

Lock Up...

I just thought I should let everyone know that it's better to be safe than sorry. Two families in the Sahuarita 2nd ward had their husband's trucks stolen out of their driveway in broad daylight- and both were locked! I just found out our neighbors across the street who moved 2 weeks ago had their extra fridge and stove stolen out of their garage (rest of the house was empty)...they went through the garage- either they got the code or they had a universal garage opener. As a child, my family has been robbed 3 times and I know what it feels like to walk into your home and see all your belongings scattered all over the place and things missing. Please be safe!

Interested in signing your kid up for Karate?

I am signing Jonah up for Karate classes at Anamax Park. It is an indoor class (to get out of the heat!) that meets in the Multipurpose Room at Anamax Rec Ctr.

Here is the class info: PeeWee session (ages 4-6)
7/10-8/14
9:30am -10:15am
$45 for the 6 weeks
I am looking for some friends to do it with Jonah. If you want to do it go to www.ci.sahuarita.az.us and click on the drop down menu at the top that says, I want to... Then pick to register for a recreation class. Or you can call them at (520) 445-7850.
